New esports network VENN got $17 million of investments
Next year gamers will get their own network. The Video Game Entertainment and New Network, or VENN is now on works for launching network focused on gaming and esports entertainment. Head office of new network for gamers will allocate in two live studios, one in New York and one in Los Angeles.
With growing popularity of video game streaming platforms including Twitch and YouTube VENN studio want to broadcast gaming content. In addition it will also distribute videos from all “skinny bundles,” including Pluto TV, YouTube TV and Sling, to stream programming.
Project collected a lot of investors, including an esports investment fund BITKRAFT Esports Ventures, Riot Games co-founder Marc Merrill, Blizzard Entertainment co-founder Mike Morhaime, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin and esports ownership group aXiomatic (whose own investors include basketball legend Michael Jordan), hedge fund founder Alec Litowitz’s private capital group Reimagined Ventures, Topgolf Media president and World Golf Tour game founder YuChiang Cheng.
VENN Gaming network founders Ariel Horn and Ben Kusin name their goal filling in gaps in esports and gaming content, because nowadays publishers focuses on keeping up with industry demands only.
“They’re focused primarily on making new games and extending the lifetime of play for existing games,” said Horn. “There was a hunger around creating content that not only was the esports competition, but a variety of other entertainment crossover content that would bridge everything from reality to game shows to elevating streamers from where they are right now.” (CNBC)
YuChiang Cheng admits that esports’ digital and global nature will allow VENN to have an even larger cultural impact than networks like ESPN and MTV did when they were founded.

Fantasy video-game “GreedFall” takes forward few centuries ago
New kid from “Spiders studio” and “Focus Home Interactive Company” was launched September, 10th. Game will attract players who got bored from typical fantasy world, because here everything goes some centuries back. Colonialist period we believe was chosen by creator not without Tolkien influence, with no technologies but with magic and terrifying monsters.
Gameplay occurs at magical island inhabited by elf-like natives and a variety of magical creatures, secrets and richness. Player comes there as a peacekeeper and need to deal with natives and colonisers (Metro).
The best part in “GreedFall” contain interesting combats, beautiful world, but boring. Gamers complain about unsuitable interface, scope of the game world, not ideal graphics and “limping” mechanic. Otherwise if you like “Witcher 3”, this game was created by its influence, so at least it deserves a try.
