Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in a Nutshell — New Features and Gameplay Changes
Today is the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla release and there are a few features you must know before entering the game. The British landscapes are there to amaze. Despite being similar in many ways to its predecessors, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla offers some changes like settlement, raids and combat improvements. If you’ve preordered the game then you should know what to expect from the latest adventures in the Assassin’s Creed universe.
Build and destroy
First of all, you can witness Vikings not only as raiders, but build your own community and enhance the settlement. There is a huge correlation between these two things in the game. You’ll have to start a raid to gather the materials and expand your village. There will be more ways to siege the enemy’s buildings and a wider space for additional tactics. Specific assault missions will often appear in the storyline. Players can breach enemy walls with a battering ram to break into the camp.
Even scavenging around the world will motivate players to search for those precious resources. The next step is to build homes and grow your community. Obviously, you’ll have to visit the barracks often. And yes, you can customize Jomsviking mercenary which is giving you the possibility to enter friends’ raids. There is room for detailed visual customization too, including Eivor’s hair and tattoos.
Fight until Valhalla
If you’ve played Origins or Odyssey, you’ll see only a few major differences in a combat system. For example, there’s no automatic regeneration in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Players are supposed to pick up nutrients like berries and regain health. The stamina meter will also fetter your moves, there will be no possibility to dance around the battlefield like a ballerina. That’s why dodges and land attacks require some sort of additional strategy. Developers haven’t stopped right there and brought back instant kills when it’s necessary. Throwing knives? Check! Double axes or shields? Check! What else?
Skill tree modifications are still in the series, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla keeps this tradition alive. Leveling up, one of the basic things from the latest Assassin’s games basically isn’t touched. There will be three skill branches named after bear, wolf and raven. Depending on which one you choose, there will be options to improve attacks, get stealth abilities and create your own playstyle. You can stick to one branch or split your skill points to get the exact skills.
Explore the new world
Ubisoft is famous for its open-world games and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla won’t be an exception. But this time there will be a more convenient way to explore new lands. Using boats and waterways you’ll have an opportunity to save some time and join raids. Unfortunately, there will be no complete naval battles. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag fans waited for this for a long time, but Valhalla won’t help here. Does this make a game worse? Of course, no. But this is still a minor downgrade compared to the Odyssey.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla can offer a different sort of entertainment. The world events are not a new thing to the gaming industry, but they are definitely a major feature for many players. Many of us hate to complete generic side quests. Random activities can bring a lot of joy when you explore the open world. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla already has a full post-launch content roadmap. There will be at least a few Seasons, containing major expansion, visual and gameplay upgrades.
