Boosteroid Launches New Data Center in Sweden to Support Rapid User Growth in Nordic Countries
Boosteroid cloud gaming platform continues to enhance its infrastructure.
Boosteroid cloud gaming platform continues to enhance its infrastructure. Now it’s Sweden’s turn. The United States and Latin America are expected in the near future.
The importance of low latency for cloud gaming cannot be underrated. The best way to decrease ping is to locate servers as close to the gamers as possible.
The Nordic region is a global leader in the digital economy, with above 90% of the population being regular internet users. Boosteroid has chosen Stockholm as the best location for its new data center because of the growing demand for cloud gaming by Swedish users, who experienced the latency problem. Before this, the nearest servers were in Slovakia, Great Britain, and France. Moreover, this convenient location allows the company to provide cloud gaming services to users in other Nordic countries – Denmark, Finland, and Norway.
In Sweden, the number of cloud gaming users is expected to reach 500,000 in five years. The growth dynamic of the cloud gaming market is influenced by the increasing cost of components for PCs and game consoles and the recent introduction of cloud gaming to TV.
“Boosteroid currently has 11 data centers in Europe. The plans are to bring their total number to 19 by the end of the year. In particular, we plan to launch our service in the USA and LATAM countries. This will allow more than 1.5 million players to run Triple-A games even on weak devices, including TVs,” says Ivan Shvaichenko, CEO, Boosteroid.
Boosteroid presence in Europe and expansion roadmap
So far, Boosteroid has launched servers to keep up to 20,000 users. The company has installed top-end AMD server processors and professional GPUs from Nvidia as the server architecture. New servers will be added as needed.
Responding to user needs, Boosteroid plans to extend its game library from 350 to up to 10,000 titles by the end of 2022.
