Ultra Pro, Frequently Asked Questions

Hi everyone!

We have seen the community feedback to the new subscription plan that was launched yesterday. With that in mind, we would like to address the most common questions from Discord, Reddit, Facebook, and other places where we interact with the community.

Q: Why are these options are not included in the Ultra subscription?

A: This is a common question, and usually it refers to the preferred server selection feature.

The Ultra Pro plan is designed to offer unique benefits not generally available with cloud gaming services.

Typically, with most services, users are not allowed to choose the specific server location to play on. In some cases, users can choose only the region, with actual server allocation still handled automatically. The Ultra plan users always get connected to the closest available data-center optimal to run the selected game at up to 4K. While Ultra Plan allows connecting to any available data center location they choose.

Q: Why do I need to pay more, if the new subscription plan does not provide access to different hardware?

A: Another question we’ve been asked a lot. The idea of the new plan is not to allow some users to use top of the shelf hardware, and keep the rest with the old. Everyone gets to play the games at up to 4k and 120 fps.

We see Ultra Pro as an option for dedicated cloud gaming players, who are willing to pay for those unique features, and we are inviting everyone to keep enjoying unlimited gaming with any of the subscription plans.

Q: I’m from Latin America, but not from Brazil, can I use the new plan to get access to the servers in São Paulo?

A: Technically, yes, but this is not an intended solution for the users of this or any other region. Players from other countries can enable the connection to distant regions option in the settings, and will get connected to the servers in São Paulo if it’s the closest route, as long as the server location has the capacity at this moment. Please, keep in mind, that most of the games will run in Portuguese by default in that region.

A new batch of servers is currently being deployed in Brazil, which we expect will provide enough capacity for all current players who want to connect to it. And the region will keep getting new capacity with time, on par with North America and Europe.

Q: I have chosen location X, and my session started in location Y. Why has this happened?

A: If the specific game cannot be launched at the preferred location, the user is routed to the closest server location where it can be launched. The preferred server location could also be in maintenance, which usually rarely happens, and during the nighttime locally.

Q: Why did you add additional wait time for disconnect or inactivity?

A: We see this as an improvement that can make a difference for some players. Traditionally, cloud gaming services free up servers when they detect inactivity, in order to maximize server capacity and efficiency. With the more expensive plan, we’re taking the opportunity to ease those limits and give users more flexibility.

Q: What is Boostcast?

A: Boostcast is a built-in streaming feature of Boosteroid.

It lets you share your active gaming session directly with others, without needing external apps like Twitch or Discord. Instead of broadcasting to the whole world, Boostcast is designed for a private audience – friends, teammates, or community members.

When you play a game on Boosteroid via browser, you can start a Boostcast session. Other people can join as viewers through a link, watching your gameplay live. Everything runs inside the Boosteroid environment, so it’s easy to set up and doesn’t require extra software.

Thank you to everyone who has been speaking out, let’s keep the conversation going.
